South Central Indiana Economic Development Partners Launch New Website

The Fouridor will tout advantages of locating business in region

NEW ALBANY, IND. (May 16, 2019)  Thanks to a coalition of economic development leaders from Duke Energy, the Port of Indiana-Jeffersonville, the River Ridge Commerce Center and One Southern Indiana (1si), the chamber of commerce and economic development organization for Clark and Floyd Counties, Ind., South Central Indiana now has a website dedicated to attracting new business to the region. Created by the marketing firm, Mightily, The Fouridor is a promotional endeavor highlighting the South Central Indiana business environment, its authentic Midwest can-do spirit and its potential to propel businesses upward in ways never imagined.   The website emphasizes the attributes of South Central Indiana as a logistics hub – namely the convergence of the “Four Rs” – roads, rail, runways and river access, thus the name “The Fouridor.”

“For many years, Duke Energy has worked hand-in-hand with local, regional and state economic development groups to help bring vibrant economies to the communities we serve,” said Erin Schneider, Indiana director of economic development for Duke Energy. “We’re proud to have played a part in creating The Fouridor and are excited about the prospects for jobs and investment it will bring to South Central Indiana communities.”

Executive Director of the River Ridge Development Authority agreed, saying, “The Fouridor website is an opportunity for the River Ridge Commerce Center to publicize its status as a world-class business and manufacturing park with over 6,000 prime acres of land under development and three unique locations for new development – an Industrial Park, an Office and Research Campus, and a 1,000-acre mega site. As the Midwest’s top-ranked business environment, we were happy to support the initiative.”

In addition to the focus on the four “R”s, the website offers company officials and site selectors an engaging look at the benefits of locating a business in South Central Indiana.  Included are the quality of life that employees could expect if a company locates in the region, educational and training opportunities and the advantages of locating in the state of Indiana, which was recently ranked the fifth best state in the nation for business, and first in the Midwest, by Chief Executive magazine.

“The Ports of Indiana enthusiastically supports The Fouridor initiative which will highlight the competitive advantages available to enterprises that may choose to locate in South Central Indiana.  The Fouridor name is a creative way for the region to spotlight the value of its extensive freight transportation infrastructure available at the Port of Indiana – Jeffersonville and throughout South Central Indiana,” said Jeff Miles, director of the Port of Indiana – Jeffersonville. “Coming off a record year in 2018 which saw Ports of Indiana grow by 25% over 2017, and with plans to invest well over $25 million in infrastructure at the Port of Jeffersonville over the next few years, the Port is excited to be part of this effort to promote a  very special part of Indiana.”

1si President and CEO Wendy Dant Chesser was pleased with the new site, saying, “We have always known South Central Indiana is an extraordinary place for businesses, employees and families.  Now we have a website that tells our story to the outside world. It is a terrific way to publicize the great logistic and business assets to site selectors and those considering a business move.  We hope the launch will generate a lot of buzz that will translate into people knowing and talking about our region, The Fouridor.”

At both the state and local level, there’s a deep understanding and appreciation of the value in getting businesses up and operational (and profitable) as quickly as possible. Business leaders in the South Central Indiana Fouridor are leveraging the state’s economic strength and momentum and propelling business on a trajectory toward growth and prosperity. Quick response teams have been formed to provide advocacy, develop local infrastructure, engage the workforce, connect to local and state resources and foster economic prosperity.  We invite you to be a part of this story about what’s possible.  Visit the new website at www.TheFouridor.com
