NOMINATIONS OPEN FOR 11TH ANNUAL SAMARITAN AWARDS

Nominations are now open until April 15, 2019, for Personal Counseling Service’s 11th Annual Norman Melhiser Samaritan Awards. The winners will be honored during the 2019 Samaritan Awards Dinner on Thursday, Aug. 15 at Plantation Hall at Huber’s Orchard & Winery.

The 2019 Samaritan Awards will recognize a worthy business, non-profit and two individuals for servant leadership, selfless giving and making a difference in the community and the lives of others. The categories are:

• Les & Virginia Albro For-Profit Business Award, given to a business that makes significant contributions to the community through time and money to non-profit organizations, going far beyond what is required by industry standards. The 2018 recipient was Duke Energy.
• Nancy & John Keck Non-Profit Award, given to a non-profit organization that demonstrates innovative programs and approaches to solving community problems. The 2018 recipient was Friend for Life Cancer Support Network.
• Alice & Richard Schleicher Individual Award, given to a person who has made significant contributions to the community through non-profit work, including volunteer efforts and monetary gifts. The 2018 recipient was Dr. Whitney Nash.
• Diane Fischer Award of Excellence, given to an employee of a business or organization who demonstrates outstanding commitment to ethical behavior and exceptional civic involvement. The 2018 recipient was Kym Wilkinson.

The public is encouraged to submit nominations for the 2019 Norman Melhiser Samaritan Awards by visiting the Personal Counseling Service website at www.pcs-counseling.org, clicking on the “Events” tab, and the “Annual Samaritan Awards.” The nomination form is located in the center of the page. All nominations are due by April 15.
