One Southern Indiana Launches Association Health Plan for Members Today at Press Conference
New Albany, Ind. (January 24, 2019) – One Southern Indiana (1si), the chamber of commerce and state-recognized local economic development organization for Clark and Floyd counties, Ind., announced today at a press conference the launch of an association health plan, under a member program entitled Insurance Under ONE. The new program will offer member employers, regardless of size, a large association group rate. Insurance Under ONE will also encompass the ancillary dental, vision, pet, short- and long-term disability insurances and Premium Only Plan (POP) plans launched in April 2017.
1si created the Insurance Under ONE Association Health Plan in partnership with the Southern Indiana Health Organization (SIHO), Baptist Health, including Baptist Health Floyd, Clark Memorial Services and Norton Healthcare to provide a comprehensive network with approximately 2,900 local and regional providers, depending on the policy chosen.
The new association health plan offers six Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) health insurance options and two Health Savings Account (HSA) plans, as well as wellness benefits such as flu shots and screenings. All eight options are available to those companies that have been a member of 1si for one year or more. Companies that have been members for less one year will have restricted options available to them until their first anniversary.
“While the Insurance Under ONE health association is available to all members, we anticipate it will be companies with 50 or fewer employees who will benefit the most,” said Traci Wright, SIHO Insurance Services Vice-President of Sales and Account Management. “Through the association health plan, small businesses will be pooled together as a large employer group and thus, in most cases, have access to more affordable rates and plan designs. These advantages will help businesses compete in the marketplace.”
All 1si members, from the sole entrepreneur to the largest corporation will have access to the unique products and networks. According to 1si staff, Insurance Under ONE could cover as many as 170,000 individuals in the region. Insurance Under ONE will be available for all insurance agents, who are 1si members, to market and sell. 1si members may also contact SIHO directly for more information.
