McCrite Milling & Construction Co. Inc. Announces Plan for Expansion
in New Albany

NEW ALBANY, IND
. (May 19, 2016) — One Southern Indiana (1si) is pleased to announce McCrite Milling & Construction Co. Inc. appeared yesterday evening before the New Albany City Council and outlined its proposed plan for an expansion project that includes investment in additional equipment and a new facility to be located at 810/820 Industrial Boulevard, New Albany, Ind. McCrite Milling & Construction Co. Inc. is a family-owned business founded in 1997 by Leaha and Patrick McCrite, and it specializes in asphalt and concrete milling to be reclaimed and recycled for reuse on present and future projects. The majority of the company’s business stems from state and federally funded highway projects in Indiana and surrounding states. Municipal public and private road work make up the balance of their contracts.

The company requested and was granted a ten-year real property tax abatement for its proposed $1 million capital investment for a 9,408-square-foot building, as well as requesting and being granted a five-year personal property tax abatement for its $2.4 million capital investment in equipment. The property tax abatements will allow the company to phase-in real and personal property taxes associated with this project. The company currently has 35 employees at its current facility in New Albany and has plans to add an additional four employees with the completion of this project. Leaha McCrite expressed her anticipation, saying, “Our entire family is very excited our business is being given the opportunity to continue to grow in a city we love. New Albany is our home, and we feel blessed that we will be able to stay here.”

“On behalf of the City of New Albany, I want to congratulate McCrite Milling & Construction Co. Inc. on their success and thank them for choosing New Albany an ideal place to grow,” said Mayor Jeff Gahan. “The City of New Albany places a high priority on the industrial business community and actively works to attract and retain manufacturing and other commerce by offering favorable tax incentives and services. We are pleased that McCrite saw the advantages of being in New Albany and the city will be ready to assist them in their growth.”

Wendy Dant Chesser, president and CEO of 1si, said, “One Southern Indiana is proud that McCrite Milling & Construction Co. Inc. has chosen to expand in the New Albany Park East Industrial Park, which would keep the 35 workers currently employed in Southern Indiana. At a time when Southern Indiana is experiencing increased interest from companies, both nationally and internationally, it is rewarding to know that companies that recognized the potential in Southern Indiana before we became an economic development hotspot still feel at home. We congratulate McCrite Milling & Construction Co. Inc. on their past success and look forward to helping them attain their goals in the future.”
