Communities In Schools of Clark County surrounds students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. Founded in 2002, we are one of 187 local affiliates of the national organization Communities In Schools. We provide in-school supports and afterschool programming to 17 elementary, two middle, and one high school in Clark County, IN. In-school supports typically consist of Resource Coordinators who provide tutoring, coordinate a literacy mentoring program, and coordinate mental health services provided by licensed mental health professionals. The afterschool programming, held before and afterschool, includes both homework help and enrichment activities. CIS of Clark County also provides expansive services to whole schools or grade levels such as vision screenings for all first graders or an in-school theater program for 15 elementary schools. Our model of services ensures that the whole community comes together to support the students of Clark County.
