St. Elizabeth Catholic Charities was established in 1979 as Catholic Charities New Albany addressing the needs of the community through mental health counseling and a supported living program for adults with developmental disabilities. In 2004, Catholic Charities and St. Elizabeth Maternity Home merged to become St. Elizabeth Catholic Charities. Over the years the agency has expanded their services to meet the increased needs of the community. St. Elizabeth's offers a wide variety of services to families. Their residential services provide emergency, short-term and long term housing for pregnant and or parenting women. The residential program also provides housing for under 18 pregnant youth. The agency is a licensed adoption agency in both Kentucky and Indiana. They are unique in that they provide free lifelong services to birth mother and child. The agency also provides in home services for developmentally delayed adults throughout the community. The counseling program provides counseling to the community and accepts insurance and sliding scale fee.  The Marie’s Ministry Distribution Program provides diapers and formula daily to the community as well as on the third Tuesday of every month they give out maternity and baby items to families in need.
