Agency Mission Statement or Description: Hope Southern Indiana builds bridges between churches, businesses and the community to meet the needs of the low income. We are committed to treating people with grace, compassion and dignity while addressing their needs and assisting them in reaching their highest level of self sufficiency.

Year established: 1964

Counties/regions serviced: Floyd, Clark, Harrison, Scott, Jefferson

Focus areas: Food Pantry, Emergency Services, Basic Needs, Life skills training, Volunteerism through the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)

Impact in community: We served 11,287 household members through our food pantry in FY 2017/18, including 696 seniors and 3837 children. We prevented eviction for 119 families and assisted with housing assistance through NAHA for 27 families. We prevented a disconnection of basic utilities for 218 families and provided a budget counseling class for 82 clients. 27 ladies graduated our Holistic Hardware life skills classes.

Volunteer Opportunities: We have many shifts during the week for volunteers that would like to give back to the community by volunteer hours. Pantry Intake, Emergency Services Intake, Pantry Distribution, Receiving, Dare to Care pick Ups, data entry and much more.

How 1si members can help your organization: We are always collecting food for the food pantry, seasonal items such as blankets, gloves and socks for the homeless, monetary donations and volunteers to help clean, serve or organize.
