Where Opportunity Knox Graduates Second 2018 Cohort from Senior Leaders Corporate Fellowship Program on June 29

Where Opportunity Knox, a regional initiative to connect transitioning Veterans and/or military spouses to jobs and careers, announced its second 2018 cohort, and sixth cohort overall, of an 8-week Senior Leaders Corporate Fellowship Program graduated from the program on Friday, June 29, 2018.

Where Opportunity Knox, in partnership with Fort Knox Education Services, launched the new 8-week Senior Leaders Corporate Fellowship Program in February 2017. In this program, senior military leaders, in the beginning stages of their transition to a civilian career, have the opportunity to spend 4 days per week working in a regional business where they work on projects, shadow business leaders and experience the civilian workplace. Each Fellow also receives weekly classroom training on Mondays at Fort Knox to learn about resume writing, interview skills, using social media in a job search, etc.

The nine Fellows who will graduate from the program as part of this cohort include Master Sergeant Frank Sanders who participated at Brown-Forman; Senior Master Sergeant (Air Force) Heather Brundidge at Family Scholar House; Sergeant First Class Ernest Taylor at Trilogy Health Services; Sergeant First Class Yevette Basabe, Sergeant Major Brian Buckler and Captain Wanda Henderson at Transit Authority River City (TARC); Master Sergeant Michael Barbieri at Doe Valley; Sergeant Major Vincent Bacon at Army Career Services (ACS); and Sergeant First Class Robert Lawton at UPS. Senior Master Sergeant Heather Brundidge is the first Air Force participant in the Senior Leaders Corporate Fellowship Program and is stationed in the Netherlands.

With the current class, 42 Fellows have graduated from the program in the first six cohorts. A record 90% of the Fellows who participated in the 2017 quarterly cohorts have already taken new jobs in the Greater Louisville region. Two additional quarterly cohorts are planned for 2018 and Where Opportunity Knox is actively recruiting other companies to participate.
