Epperson named Indiana Tourism Association’s Member of the Year |

Jeffersonville, Ind. (March 8, 2018) – The Indiana Tourism Association has named Jim Epperson, executive director of SoIN Tourism, its member of the year. This award along with eight others were given during the Indiana Tourism Conference, held March 5-7 at Clarksville’s Radisson Hotel. The Indiana Tourism Awards, were presented on Tuesday by Midwest Living. Each year the awards honor tourism individuals and businesses who are creative, innovative and who maximize the dollars they invest in the communities they serve. Epperson’s award reflects the leadership and mentoring he provides to his peers in other Indiana destination marketing organizations since moving back to his home state in 2002. Prior to leading the team at SoIN tourism, he was executive director at the Harrison County CVB and was state tourism director in Ohio. “This is a well-deserved award,” said Rick Lovan, president of SoIN Tourism’s Board of Managers. “Jim is a great asset to our communities, and we’re happy people from around the state recognize his efforts.” Jaime Bohler Smith, executive director of Visit Hendricks County, nominated Epperson for the award. Jeremy Yackle, executive director of the Harrison County CVB and Jack Arnett, executive director of Visit Michigan City La Porte sent letters of support for the award. More than 185 tourism leaders from around the state came to the Indiana Tourism Conference for educational sessions and networking over the three-days. Speakers included professionals from Cleveland, Orlando, Las Vegas, and Indianapolis. SoIN Tourism is the official destination marketing organization for Clark and Floyd Counties in southern Indiana. Its mission is to promote and develop the unique Southern Indiana visitor experience to priority targeted group and leisure travelers and to achieve new tourism spending benefits for the industry, its communities and residents.
