Personal Counseling Service Invites Award Nominations

A commitment to wellness in mind, body, and spirit has been the mission for Clarksville, Ind.-based Personal Counseling Service since its founding in 1959.  To recognize the community’s support of that mission, PCS will present four awards to community leaders and businesses that exhibit importance of business ethics and social consciousness.

Nominations are now open, and winners will be honored during the tenth annual Norman Melhiser Samaritan Awards Dinner on Thursday, Aug. 16 at Kye’s II and Courtyard.

The public is invited to participate in the celebration by nominating individuals and businesses for these four special recognitions.

The award categories are described below:

  • Les & Virginia Albro For-Profit Business Award, given to a business that makes significant contributions to the community through time and money to non-profit organizations, going far beyond what is required by law or industry standards.  The 2017 recipient was Truman Law Office.
  • Nancy and John Keck Non-Profit Award, given to a non-profit organization that demonstrates innovative programs and approaches to solving community problems and which has strong partnerships with other non-profits, businesses, and/or government entities.  The 2017 recipient was Pure Education Initiative, Inc.
  • Alice and Richard Schleicher Individual Award, given to a person who has made significant contributions to the community through non-profit work, including volunteer efforts and monetary gifts while demonstrating a commitment to personal values, influence in the community, and leadership with non-profits.  The 2017 recipient was Dawne Gee.
  • Diane Fischer Award of Excellence, given to an employee of a business or organization who demonstrates outstanding commitment to ethical behavior and exceptional civic involvement.  The 2017 recipient was Dr. David Dageforde.
