Dant Chesser Elected Board Chair of State Economic Development Organization

Indianapolis, Ind. - (December 15, 2017) – President and CEO of One Southern Indiana (1si) Wendy Dant Chesser was elected chair of the Indiana Economic Development Association (IEDA) Board of Directors at their annual meeting this morning. She has spent the past two years as an officer of IEDA, serving as the vice chair for one year and secretary for one year. She was also the chair and a member-at-large of the organization’s legislative committee.

“I’m very honored to be elected board chair of this prestigious organization,” said Dant Chesser. “The IEDA is a fantastic organization that assists individuals, rural communities and metropolitan areas throughout Indiana as well as professionals who work within the economic development field. They offer resources and support in the areas of legislation, professional development and workforce development as it relates to the retention, expansion and attraction of Indiana businesses. I am lucky to be leading an extremely talented group of professionals and am eager to begin my term.”

The Indiana Economic Development Association, Inc., (IEDA), celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2018, is a statewide not-for-profit economic development organization with approximately 400 members. The purpose of the association is to provide on-going education for its members and a forum for the exchange of ideas and best practices. It also provides opportunities for interaction with legislators and state officials and works hard to promote state and federal policies that support a positive business climate to help existing businesses flourish and attract new businesses to the state.

Dant Chesser, a Jeffersonville, Ind. native, has been the CEO and president of 1si since 2012, after serving as president of Cornerstone Alliance, a similar organization in Southwest Michigan. Prior to her move to Michigan, she worked in various aspects of economic development for over seven years with the State of Indiana and spent the last year of her government career as Deputy Executive Director for Program Operations of the Indiana Department of Commerce.

Wendy was named as the Indiana Chamber Executives Association’s Chamber Executive of the Year in 2016 and one of North America’s Top 50 Economic Developers of 2015 by Consultant Connect, a consulting agency designed to bridge the gap between economic developers and site consultants. She was awarded the 2000 Outstanding Young Hoosier Award from the Indiana Jaycees, was recognized in the Indianapolis Business Journal’s “Forty Under 40” for 2004, and was honored by Western Michigan Business Review’s “Business Leaders Under 40.”
