CLARKSVILLE, IN – Laughter is the best medicine, and the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is writing a prescription for everyone this Friday, September 15th at Gateway Park, as we host our first-ever “Comedy in the Park” event. The event was scheduled to be held in May, but had to be rescheduled due to weather.
Since first opening to the public in spring 2016, Gateway Park has hosted several outdoor movies, concerts, and festivals. Now Clarksville Parks is adding a new type of fun by offering a FREE comedy night for area residents. Two professional comedians, Shawn Reynolds and John Branyan, will be performing their ‘clean comedy’ routines on the Gateway Park event lawn from 7:00-8:30pm. Admission is FREE, but visitors are encouraged to bring a lawn chair for the show. Snacks will also be available for purchase.
About the Comedians…
Shawn Reynolds has appeared locally on NBC & ABC, was a featured act on the Midwest Clean Comedy All-Stars tour, and founded "Stand-Up For Kentucky"; a benefit series that raises money for families in need. He brings audiences a fun mix of clean, family humor & social observation whenever he takes the stage. This father of 6 and self-proclaimed "trophy husband" always enjoy his witty storytelling & self-deprecating take on the perils of parenting in the 21st century, marriage & all the little obstacles life throws at us.
John Branyan has been a professional comedian for more than 20 year, but he is also a writer. He has participated in Jay Leno's National Comedy Competition and has been featured on nine recorded comedy projects with people like Ken Davis, David Jeremiah, Ted Cunningham and Tim Hawkins. Branyan's mock-Shakespearean version of The Three Little Pigs has been viewed nearly 2 million times on YouTube.
