Habitat for Humanity Clark & Floyd Indiana Dedicates Home in Clarksville

JEFFERSONVILLE, IND. (August 8, 2017) – Habitat for Humanity Clark & Floyd Indiana (Habitat CFI) celebrated its newest completed home with a dedication ceremony on Friday, August 4th, with a ribbon cutting hosted by One Southern Indiana (1si) at 309 South Clark Blvd., Clarksville, Ind. Attending the event were local officials, 1si Membership Relations Manager Danny James, 1si Ambassadors, staff and the public.

The future homeowner of the newest completed home, Tess Kessinger, suffered a traumatic spinal cord injury following an automobile accident in February 2006 and has been wheelchair-bound since that time. “I want all of the Habitat volunteers and sponsors to know that they are giving me back normalcy in my life. My family is happy and excited for me, though a bit nervous,” said Ms. Kessinger.

“No matter where we build, we're a part of the neighborhood, whether it's building a new house on a block or renovating an existing house. We turn houses into homes. As stated in our mission, ‘Habitat brings people together.’ We work with people everywhere, from all walks of life, to develop communities. We invite the public to join us as we continue to build on our success to help make our great community even better,” said Jerry Leonard, Habitat CFI executive director.

Habitat CFI is open Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. They also offer community build days Tuesdays through Saturdays. Their office is located at 711 East 8th Street, New Albany, Ind. They partner with several local non-profits for support and also work with local city officials in both Clark and Floyd counties.

ABOUT HABITAT FOR HUMANITY CLARK & FLOYD INDIANA:
Since 1991, Habitat for Humanity Clark & Floyd Indiana, Inc. (Habitat CFI) has served Clark and Floyd counties with a housing ministry that works in partnership with qualifying families to help them build their own homes. Habitat CFI, through many generous donors and dedicated volunteers, provides the land, materials, and expertise to construct homes. The organization then sells the home to the partner family on a twenty-year, no-interest mortgage ensuring monthly mortgage payments are affordable for these families. Some mortgages provide longer terms to keep the monthly payment affordable, but none are longer than 30 years. For more information, visit their website at
