Active Heroes Celebrates Grand Opening in New Albany
NEW ALBANY, IND. (May 30, 2017) – Active Heroes celebrated the grand opening of its new location at 141 East Main Street, New Albany, Ind., with a ribbon cutting hosted by One Southern Indiana (1si). The event was attended by State Representative, Ed Clere, City of New Albany officials, 1si President & CEO, Wendy Dant Chesser, 1si Ambassadors and staff, and the public.

Active Heroes, a national 501(c)(3) charity, opened their second military family community center in partnership with Graystone Performance. The new community center is a veteran-owned and operated CrossFit and human performance training facility. The space features a gym that can double as a classroom, three treatment rooms for acupuncture or massage, a store and lobby where resources are listed for military families.

“We are excited to partner with Graystone Performance to open a brand-new style of community center for military families,” said Troy Yocum, founder and President of Active Heroes. Active Heroes’ first community center, located in Louisville, opened nearly three years ago. Since then, the organization has been able to provide several thousand veterans, and their families, with activities that help heal, build camaraderie, and connect with resources. They hope to expand this vision into other cities and states around the country. The New Albany community center is the first expansion for the community center program.
