NEW ALBANY, IND. (May 23, 2017) – Groups Recover Together, a community of physicians, counselors and recovering opiate users who help individuals recover from opiate use and regain control of their lives, celebrated their grand opening on May 17th at 1919 State Street, New Albany, Ind., with a ribbon cutting hosted by One Southern Indiana (1si). The event was attended by 1si CEO and President, Wendy Dant Chesser, 1si Ambassadors and staff, and the public.
“We chose New Albany due to its central location to several surrounding counties that are in need. There are limited resources for outpatient therapy in Southern Indiana, with Floyd County being especially limited. We understand the need for a variety of treatment options to meet patient needs and are excited to be serving in Floyd County,” said Allison Puckett, Substance Abuse/Mental Health counselor. Groups Recover Together opened its first office in Indiana on October 24, 2016 and has expanded rapidly across the state. They have been successfully treating patients in their Maine and New Hampshire offices for the past three years.
Groups Recover Together opened in New Albany on March 23, 2017, and are open Monday through Friday, from 9 to 5 p.m. Unlike programs where clients meet alone with a physician, Groups Recover Together bring all staff together to provide medication and weekly therapy sessions with other people recovering from opiates. People at different stages of recovery learn from each other, build collective wisdom and hold each other accountable.
ABOUT GROUPS RECOVER TOGETHER:
Groups Recover Together is meeting the epidemic head-on. The unprecedented scale of opioid abuse requires a new way to treat this disease. It is a for-profit medical practice that believes to confine this work to the realm of government and charity means society will never catch up to the epidemic, forever one step behind. ABOUT ONE SOUTHERN INDIANA:
One Southern Indiana (1si) was formed in July of 2006 as the Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development organization serving Clark and Floyd Counties. 1si’s mission is to provide the connections, resources and services that help businesses innovate and thrive in the Southern Indiana/Louisville metro area.
Since its inception, the organization has evolved to include a three-prong approach to serve its members and investors. Business Resources, as the chamber side of the organization, encompasses membership, signature events and programs which support and encourage business growth; Economic Development works to grow the regional economy through the attraction of new commerce and assists with retention and expansion of existing businesses; Advocacy supports businesses at the government level by engaging in initiatives to preserve, protect and promote a business friendly environment free of obstacles to growth and development of commerce.
