Agency Mission Statement or Description: Blue River Services, Inc. is a private, 501(c)(3), non-profit organization founded in 1959 to provide education for children with disabilities after the public school systems deemed them uneducatable. Blue River has since expanded its services to meet the growing needs of children, youth, young adults and seniors of all backgrounds and ability in 32 Southern Indiana counties. Blue River strives to achieve its motto of “People Serving People” every day. For the past 58 years, Blue River Services has been fulfilling its mission to assist people with disabilities realize maximum personal growth and development at home, work and in the community. Whenever possible, Blue River Services also meets the similar needs of the general community by providing services in non-segregated, community-based settings that emphasize the inclusion of people with disabilities in all areas of life. In fiscal year 2016, Blue River Services, Inc. served more than 21,000 people in 32 Southern Indiana counties. Economically, in 2016, the agency employed 243 people, had more than $4 million in payroll and spent $579,848 locally in Harrison County alone.
