NEW ALBANY, Ind. (Feb. 21, 2017) – Indiana University Southeast will celebrate the opening of its new, state-of-the-art Sanders Professional Sales Center with a formal dedication ceremony at 8 a.m. on March 7.
The ceremony will open with remarks from IU Southeast Chancellor Ray Wallace, business dean David Eplion, Sanders Professional Sales Center Director Chris Cox and Tom Raisor of Northwestern Mutual. It will conclude with a ribbon cutting outside of the Professional Sales Center in the IU Southeast School of Business, followed by an opportunity to explore the new sales lab in Hillside Hall Room 100. Light breakfast will be served.
Named after longtime IU Southeast donors Judge Carlton and Sue Sanders, the Sanders Professional Sales Center will utilize state-of-the-art facilities, instruction, courses and curricula to draw high-ability students, prepare them for selling as a career and connect them with Kentuckiana region sales professionals and organizations via internships and other learning opportunities.
“Professional selling is a problem-solving, solution-oriented process, and it requires both knowledge and a lot of practice,” said Cox. “The Sanders Sales Lab allows for multiple students to simultaneously engage in realistic selling role plays and get video-based feedback on what they are doing well and what they can improve. It will also allow us to effectively connect our students with area sales professionals in a variety of ways, including asking them to act as ‘buyers’ in these role plays.”
The primary goal of the Professional Sales Center is to promote selling skill development in the Kentuckiana region. Programs of study have been developed for business majors, those majoring in areas outside of business, and for non-degree seekers who wish to pursue a certificate program.
The Professional Sales Center will house the professional selling major and any for-credit certificates and minors. Additionally, the Professional Sales Center will work with community partners to provide non-credit programming such as sales seminars, training and professional development to the business and non-profit community.
The IU Southeast professional sales program first launched in fall 2016 and will graduate its first class this spring at full capacity. For more information, visit ius.edu/sales.
