NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The Rotary Club of New Albany has selected Kevin Cecil, local banking professional and devoted philanthropist, as its honoree for the 23rd Annual Rotary Community Toast and Benefit Banquet. The banquet will be held on Friday, November 4 at Huber’s Orchard, Winery and Vineyards’ Plantation Hall. Each year the Rotary Club of New Albany chooses an individual from the community who has made important contributions to the local area and exemplifies the true spirit of the Rotary motto, “Service Above Self.”

“For years Kevin Cecil has been an example to all of us for how to live by Rotary’s motto. His involvement with many outstanding organizations has had a lasting, positive impact on our community,” said Rotary Club of New Albany President Chad Dimmitt. “I’m thrilled that we have the opportunity to honor him at this year’s Community Toast & Benefit Banquet.”

Cecil is President and CEO of Your Community Bank. Cecil has successfully led Your Community Bank for the past 15 years. The Bank has experienced an increase in both deposit growth and capital under his leadership. Through his example the company also continues to be one of the community’s leaders in supporting of community development, education, human services, cultural affairs, and health and medical related programs within the local markets. He originally began his banking career in 1977 as Assistant Branch Manager with PNC Bank.

Contributing to his community has always been a priority for Cecil who sees it as his way to give back. He has shared his talents with the community by serving on many local boards including: One Southern Indiana’s Economic Development Council, Metro United Way, St. Elizabeth Maternity Home, the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana, and St. Mary’s Church. Cecil has also previously served on the Board for Providence Jr./Sr. High School and is a regular volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. He currently serves on the Board and Finance Committee for DeSales High School in Louisville.

Kevin earned both his BSC and MBA at the University of Louisville and has been happily married to his wife Cindy for thirty-six years. The couple have three children. Kevin credits both his personal and professional success to his family and co-workers and lives by the principles: 1. Do what is right. 2. Do your best. 3.Treat others the way you want to be treated.

As customary, each year a portion of the proceeds from the Rotary Toast go to a nonprofit or charity as selected by that year’s honoree. Cecil has selected to have this portion of the proceeds split to benefit two causes in our community that are important to him. Proceeds will benefit both the Metro United Way and the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana.

Organizations or businesses who are interested in sponsoring this year’s Rotary Community Toast and Benefit Banquet should contact Club President Chad Dimmitt at cdimmitt@centra.org for more information.
