Registration open now through August 7th
CLARKSVILLE, IN (July 19, 2018) — In just a few weeks, Clarksville’s Wooded View Golf Course will be filled with players hoping to make a difference in the lives of area children. The Optimist Club of Clarksville will be hosting their annual “Parent/Child Golf Tournament” on Sunday, August 12, 2018. This annual tournament is the largest fundraiser of the year for the Optimist Club.
The money raised from the tournament is used to support various programs in the Southern Indiana area, including programs offered through the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department. One example is the Clarksville Parks Saturday Morning Program. Every winter, area children are invited to participate free of charge in Saturday Morning activities such as bowling, skating, field trips, and more. The program would not be possible without the financial support of the Optimist Club of Clarksville. The Optimist Club also gives out scholarships each year to help Clarksville children pay for higher education.
The Parent/Child Golf Tournament is open to children of all ages, and groups have an option to play in a 9-hole or 18-hole division. Fathers, Mothers, Grandparents, and step-parents are all welcome to play with a child in the tournament, and trophies will be awarded to the winners in each age group. The fee to participate is $45 per team for the 18-hole division, and $35 per team for the 9-hole division.
For more information on the tournament, or to request a registration form in the mail, area residents should contact the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department at 812-283-5313.
